Upcoming film Featherlight selected for the Nordisk Panorama Forum

Film artist Mina Laamo will present her film in production, Featherlight (original title: Siivenisku), at the Nordisk Panorama Forum in Malmö, Sweden, on September 20–22, 2026.

As our planet teeters on the brink of the sixth mass extinction, the film takes us on a journey through the present, the past, and the future – a world in which birds and humans are inseparable: different species, yet part of the same mycelial network. The film reveals how a personal relationship with nature may hold the key to a better world for a large part of the sentient beings who inhabit it.

For more than 35 years, Nordisk Panorama has served as a meeting place for Nordic short and documentary films. Every September, filmmakers, film industry professionals, and audiences from around the world gather in Malmö.

Laamo’s previous film, Sorrow Tamers (2022), was praised for its experimental storytelling, which the new film continues to explore. European Modern Times Review described it as a magnificent film, best described as a hybrid of documentary and artwork.

Alongside Laamo, the event will be attended by the film’s producer Sini Hormio. Selected as Finland’s “wild card,” the production has received support from, among others, the Kone Foundation, the Finnish Film Foundation, and AVEK.
